What a busy and exciting final half term we have in Year 4!

As well as our annual Tunnicliffe Art Competition and performance, we have two trips planned.  We are excited about playing with the Halle Orchestra at Bridgewater Hall on 19th June, to showcase all we have learnt this year with the Love Music Trust.  Also, we will be visiting the Dewa Roman Experience in Chester, to accompany our new topic:

Please see the Topic Plan for more information.

Year 4 have now completed their six week course in Mindfulness. Hopefully some of the techniques will be useful to the children, either at present or in the future. Printable cards of some of the exercises studied can be found in the file section, should your child need a reminder. The following website may also be of use to those wishing to explore Mindfulness further:

During the Summer Term, Year 4 will continue swimming every Tuesday morning so please ensure P.E. kits are sent into school.

Please ensure P.E. kits are in school at all times. Also, there will be some House Team events, including School Sports Day, therefore please ensure your child has a T-shirt in their team colour as part of their kit.

Your  child will receive weekly Maths and spellings homework. This includes playing on TT Rockstars and Spelling Shed at least 3 times a week.   We will also set a 'topic' homework, to be handed in the last week of term.

This term, Year 4 will be tested on their quick recall of all facts up to 12 x 12. To help them learn the facts in a fun and memorable way, we have attached a list of websites with times tables set to the tune of modern pop songs. Please encourage your child to listen, sing and learn!

REMINDER: Recently, the children have been invited to play on the Prodigy website where they will find games based on the mathematical concepts they have been learning in class. The games automatically adjust to support or extend their learning so it should be an enjoyable way to improve everyone's understanding. If you experience any problems in accessing the website please speak to Mrs.Cook.

Reading is so important to your child's education and can be so much fun!   Your child will be expected to read a minimum of three times a week and to record this is their Reading Record.

Should you have any queries or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to come and see us before or after school; our door is always open!
