Year 5 Langley Walk

Our final expedition into our locality was a wonderful 3 hour walk discovering the history and geography of Langley. Many many thanks to Steve and Vicky Leighton for guiding us around. What a lot of interesting information and unknown facts we discovered. Also thanks to the helpers who came with us...I think they learnt a lot too!

We travelled back in time from the rise of the silk and printing industry, farming and quarrying to Bronze Age burial barrows and the suspected site of a Bronze Age settlement.

We discovered the story about the name St Dunstan  and its sign, saw Tunnicliffe’s birthplace, the site of Whiston’s mill and even located the first tap which supplied the village with running water.

What a beautiful and fascinating place to live and work!
