In our classroom this half term is myself (Miss Holland), Mrs Wood (M-W), Miss Rose, Mrs Heathcote (T-F) and Mrs Clowes (M, Th, F). Miss Bewers will take the class on a Friday from 9.45. Together, we have a wonderful time at school, learning and having fun.
This half term our theme is... On the Farm
We will be exploring the book: The Three Little Pigs. We will be exploring what it is like to live on a farm and deciding if we would like to be farmers when we grow up. During this half term we will be creating a map of a farms and looking at how to care for animals and humans.
We also have lots of different areas in our classroom that we can explore. Such as: sand, water, hospital (role play), home corner, reading area, maths zone and lots more.
On our school website you will find information about our school. Please don’t forget to keep up to date with ‘Tapestry’ as we will be putting pictures on here of different activities that your child has been up to during their time in reception.
One of our favourite things to do is "show and tell". finding out what our class friends have been up too and asking questions. So, please feel free to upload your own pictures onto Tapestry aswell.
Below you will find a list of all the things your child will need in school EVERYDAY. Please Ensure ALL of their belongings are named clearly.
- A full school uniform (All available from CLASSWORX school wear)
- A Hollinhey book bag (the one without a strap is perfect)
- A waterproof coat
- A pair of wellies that will be kept in school
- A water bottle with a non-spill lid (not a screw top)
- A healthy snack for morning break
During the afternoon, all children will be provided with a piece of fruit. We encourage all children to at least try this fruit and find that this really helps get into healthy routines and habits. The Government also provides a free drink of milk for all children under the age of 5.
PE in Reception is on a Tuesday and Friday. To avoid bringing lots of things to and from school, we ask that on Tuesdays and Fridays children come to school dressed in their PE kit. We will head outside as much as possible so please make sure children have the right clothing with them to be warm enough!
Reading books will be changed twice a week, on a Tuesday and a Friday. Each child will have a reading record. Please sign your child's reading record when you listen to them read and we will do the same in school. These need to be brought into school everyday.
Taking the time to read with your child everyday will have a huge impact on their learning and progress. Reading to them as well as listening to them read, is equally as important as this will allow them to hear how experienced readers read.
Homework for this half term will be set online or places inside their yellow homework folders. It will be set on a Wednesday to be completed by the following Monday. Please ensure your child's yellow folder is brought into school every Monday.
Keeping your child safe and happy is the upmost important thing so please don't hesitate to send me an email or talk to me at the beginning or end of the day. I will always find time to listen and help if I can.
