We're very excited for the second half of the Summer Term in Year 4! This half term we'll be learning all about the Roman invasion of Britain in our History lessons, how sound travels in Science and we'll be experimenting with different drawing techniques in our art lessons. We'll be continuing to improve our knowledge of division in Maths and we'll be swimming in our PE lessons! We also have the opportunity to play our brass instrunments alongside the infamous Halle orchestra, we'll be visitng Chester to train like Roman centurions and we can't wait for Sports week pin July!
The School Day
Soft opening 8:40-8:50 and the school day ends at 3:20.
Reading
Please encourage your child to read at home with an adult at least three times per week. Reading diaries will be monitored weekly.
Music
Children will be learning to play a brass instrument this year - our music day will be Monday.
PE
Thursday is our PE day this half term, children should come to school in the Hollinhey PE kits and bring their swimming kit with them.
Homework
Your child will receive two pieces of paper-based homework each week (Spellings & Maths). This will be sent out on a Wednesday to be returned on Monday. Please don't leave it until Sunday night to complete these tasks - the earlier your child looks at it, the more relaxed a process it becomes!
Children are expected to complete:
3 x assignments on Spelling Shed (or IDL if appropriate)
10 minutes times tables practice on TT Rockstars.
Equipment
Pupils need to bring in a water bottle, a snack (and packed lunch, if desired) each day. All children will be provided with their own school equipment so there is no need to send in pencil cases etc.
