Welcome to Year 4
We're very excited to welcome you all back to school for our second half term together - this half term we've got some really exciting activities planned!
We'll be learning all about the different states of matter and the water cycle in our science lessons and we'll be designing and making our own purses in Design & Technology. We'll be reading Oliver & the Seawigs by Philip Reeve, and Flotsam by David Weisner, while also writing recounts in the form of diary entries. And of course, the term will be rounded off with all things Christmassy!
The School Day
Soft opening 8:40-8:50 and the school day ends at 3:20.
Reading
Please encourage your child to read at home with an adult at least three times per week. Reading diaries will be monitored weekly.
Music
Children will need to bring their brass instruments into school on a Wednesday.
PE
Monday & Thursday are our PE days - we'll be taking part in Health Related Fitness and Netball activities this half term..
Homework
Your child will receive two pieces of paper-based homework each week (Spellings & Maths). This will be sent out on a Wednesday to be returned on Monday. Please don't leave it until Sunday night to complete these tasks - the earlier your child looks at it, the more relaxed a process it becomes!
Children are expected to complete:
3 x assignments on Spelling Shed (or IDL if appropriate)
3 x 5 minutes times tables practice on TT Rockstars.
Equipment
Pupils need to bring in a water bottle, a snack (and packed lunch, if desired) each day. All children will be provided with their own school equipment so there is no need to send in pencil cases etc.
