Hello everyone and a big welcome to Year 1. We are so excited to be teaching your children this year. We have a lot of new experiences and different topics which will be taking place. Our first topic is called Island Life where the children will be learning about life on an Island. We will read Katie Morag stories and complete some writing based on the story Storm Whale.

General reminders 

PE

PE in Year 1 is on Monday and Thursday. To avoid bringing lots of things to and from school, we ask that on these days children come to school dressed in their full Hollinhey PE kit. 

Reading

Reading books will be changed twice a week, on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please sign your child's reading record when you listen to them read and we will do the same in school. 

Homework

Weekly homework is set on a Wednesday. There will maths and phonics tasks on EdShed as well as a sheet to complete in your folder. There is also an enrichment activity sheet.  This consists of more creative tasks and does not need submitting but if you wish to bring in any work that is lovely too!
