Safeguarding Statement:
Hollinhey Primary School is passionate about and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and visitors to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. All concerns are passed to trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) in school in compliance with the sharing of information guidance.

Reporting Concerns:
If you have any serious concerns about your child or any other pupil at Hollinhey Primary School, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Designated Officers in school who will know who to contact for the best advice and help and are experienced in using the appropriate degree of confidentiality.
Reporting concerns outside of school hours:
The Cheshire East Consultation Service (ChECS) is the single point of contact for advice, support and referrals relating to children and families, including safeguarding and child protection concerns.

School based support:
At Hollinhey Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and supported. We recognise that children and families may need help at different times and we encourage anyone with concerns to seek support as early as possible.
Pupils can access pastoral support through:
- Their class teacher
- Teaching assistants and support staff
- Designated members of the pastoral team
- Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)
- Trusted adults identified by the child
- Children are encouraged to talk to an adult if they are worried about themselves, a friend or something happening at home or online.
We promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing through:
- A caring and supportive school environment
- Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education
- Emotional wellbeing activities and interventions
- Opportunities to discuss worries and concerns with trusted adults
- Referrals to external agencies where additional support is required
- Parents and carers who have concerns about their child's emotional wellbeing should contact their child's class teacher in the first instance.
Our safeguarding team is available to support children and families who may be experiencing difficulties, including:
- Family or relationship difficulties
- Domestic abuse
- Emotional wellbeing concerns
- Attendance issues
- Online safety concerns
- Neglect or welfare concerns
- Concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing
If you have a concern about a child's welfare, please speak to a member of the safeguarding team as soon as possible.
Sometimes families may benefit from additional support from external services. With consent, the school can work with families and partner agencies to access Early Help services and other specialist support to ensure children receive the right help at the right time.

Support for Families:
There are a range of local and national services available to support children, young people and families. If you need advice, guidance or additional support, the services below can help.
Cheshire East Family Hubs:
Family Hubs provide information, advice and support for children, young people and families from birth to 19 years (or up to 25 for young people with SEND). Services include parenting support, wellbeing advice, family activities and access to specialist services.

Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support
Cheshire Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS)
CYPMHS provides specialist mental health support for children and young people aged 0-18 experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties. Parents, carers and professionals can access support and referral information through the MyMind website.

LiveWell Cheshire East provides information on local services, family support, health, wellbeing, SEND services and community organisations.

Early Help and Family Support:
If your family would benefit from extra support, school staff can help you access Early Help services. This may include support with:
- Parenting and family relationships
- Attendance concerns
- Emotional wellbeing

Remember: you are never bothering an adult by sharing a worry.
Operation Encompass
Hollinhey Primary School is proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national safeguarding partnership between schools and police forces which supports children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass ensures that when the police attend an incident of domestic abuse where a child is present, involved or otherwise affected, the school is informed before the start of the next school day. This allows the school to provide timely and appropriate support for the child.
The information is shared securely with the school's trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Key Adult, who can then ensure that any necessary support is in place.
Operation Encompass enables schools to:
- Recognise when a child may need additional support
- Provide immediate emotional and practical help
- Reduce barriers to learning following a traumatic incident
- Work in partnership with families and safeguarding professionals to support children effectively
- Children who experience domestic abuse are recognised in law as victims in their own right and may require support even if they did not directly witness an incident.
